The Troop 53 annual spaghetti dinner will be help Sunday, April 1 at the South Webster Community Center. Exact times to be announced. The annual spahetti dinner allows scouts to raise money to pay for their week of summer camp each year. As last year, the tickets each scout sells will reduce their camp fees.

Camp High Oaks. Date and details to be announced.
There will be a OWOP shakedown held at Camp Oyo North Field from 1-3 p.m. Following the shakedown, the Shawnee Chapter of the Order Of The Arrow will hold a Tap Out ceremony for those boys elected to the OA this year.
The OWOP Camporee will be held May 4 – 6 at the Ross County Fairgrounds. This will be a council-wide camporee with thousands of participants. More complete detail will be posted as event date approaches.
The boys visited Camp Hugh Taylor Birch in February and have indicated that they would like to try Summer camp there this year. The Troop Committee is looking into it. Camp Hugh Taylor Birch is located near Yellow Springs, Ohio and is in Tecumseh Council. It is a full service camp with a structured program. Whether we attend camp at Birch or choose another camp, our week we have chosen is July 8 - 14.
As most of you are aware, Simon Kenton Council decided to close Camp Oyo for regular summer camp after 80 years. Apparently they cannot manage money very well and cannot afford three council camps; so Oyo was selected for closure since it is furthest from Columbus. Also, the preferred Columbus camp, Camp Falling Rock, wants a new shower house and an Eagle Lodge—whatever that is--so keeping Camp Oyo open for traditional summer camp must have been interfering with improvements at other camps.
Welcome To the Troop 53 Website. This site is brand new and is still under construction, so please excuse the mess! Our goal is to make this a resource for the community, parents and scouts to be better informed of what our scouts are doing and what is on the horizon. The Troop Calendar will tell scouts when and where to be. Please see “About Troop 53” for more!
